Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has issued an announcement on newly registered pesticide products. Focusing on the needs of agricultural green development and pest and disease prevention and control, it has newly approved 7 pesticide active ingredients and 13 products for registration.
The newly approved pesticides this time exhibit the following characteristics: First, the proportion of biological pesticides is high. Among the 7 registered active ingredients, 5 are biological pesticides, which reflects the new achievements in promoting pesticide development through advanced biotechnology and provides new impetus for advancing agricultural green development. Second, they are environmentally friendly. All the newly approved pesticides are low-toxicity products, mostly water-based formulations such as water-dispersible granules, emulsion in water, and suspension concentrates. They contain less organic solvents and have minimal impact on the environment. Third, new progress has been made in independent innovation. Among the 7 newly approved pesticide ingredients, 4 are developed by domestic enterprises (scientific research institutions), and some products have reached the international advanced level among similar products.
In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will take a series of measures to continuously support the innovation and development of pesticides. First, it will strengthen the protection of innovation. It will implement the newly revised Measures for the Administration of Pesticide Registration, clearly stipulate the implementation of data protection for the registration of the first new pesticide, and strengthen institutional support for pesticide innovation and development. Second, it will provide convenient registration services. It will continue to organize enterprise open days, establish and improve a consultation mechanism for new pesticide registration, and provide "one-on-one" technical guidance services for registration to help enterprises solve difficulties and problems encountered. Third, it will optimize the approval process. It will continue to implement a green channel for the registration and approval of biological pesticides and new pesticides that replace highly toxic pesticides, increase the number of review meetings for new pesticide registration, accelerate the pace of new pesticide registration, and focus on promoting the launch of new pesticide products.
